About Christian Science
Christian Science is the outcome of a lifetime of spiritual seeking by a New England woman born in 1821. In 1866 Mary Baker Eddy experienced a remarkable healing from a near-fatal accident when she turned to her Bible for comfort and inspiration. An account of healing performed by Jesus opened her thought to receive what she eventually named Christian Science, or the understanding of God demonstrated by Christ Jesus. Her discovery of his healing method enabled her to heal others as well and to teach others the science of spiritual, prayer-based healing. In 1875 she published her discovery in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, which has become the textbook of Christian Science and the companion to the Bible, together designated the pastor of our church. Over the course of her life until 1910, Mrs. Eddy founded her church based on the teachings of Jesus. Christian Scientists have had a strong record of spiritual healing for over 150 years.
